Isaiah 57
15 The high and lofty one who lives in eternity,
the Holy One, says this:
“I live in the high and holy place
with those whose spirits are contrite and humble.
I restore the crushed spirit of the humble
and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.
16 For I will not fight against you forever;
I will not always be angry.
Isaiah 58
6 “No, this is the kind of fasting I want:
Free those who are wrongly imprisoned;
lighten the burden of those who work for you.
Let the oppressed go free,
and remove the chains that bind people.
7 Share your food with the hungry,
and give shelter to the homeless.
Give clothes to those who need them,
and do not hide from relatives who need your help.
14 Then the Lord will be your delight.
I will give you great honor
and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob.
I, the Lord, have spoken!”
Phillipians 1
6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
Psalm 71
20 You have allowed me to suffer much hardship,
but you will restore me to life again
and lift me up from the depths of the earth.
21 You will restore me to even greater honor
and comfort me once again.
Proverbs 24
10 If you fail under pressure,
your strength is too small.
Sharing: God is a wonderful God. He tells me today if I fail under pressure, my strength is too small. But if I allow God to let me suffer much hardship, He will restore me to life with greater honor . It is so true in my life. I also read Paul's writing that he was certain that God began the good work within us, He will continue His work in us until the day Christ Jesus returns. All these was a testimonial of God's new promise in the Old Testament now happening to Paul in the New Testament that He gave the Israelites and through Jesus to us that He would not fight against and punish us anymore, but He is willing to bestow all His inheritance to Christ's believers like us if our spirit is contrite and humble, and our heart is repenting. But God also warns us not to be a hypocrite to fast in front of people but yet we oppress and imprison people lower than or against us, we don't share food and shelter to the hungry and homeless, and we hide away from our relatives who needs help. May our Lord help us to be more Christ like, ie., humble, gentle, patient and bearing in love. Thank you Lord of hearing our praise.

Pr 24:3 By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established;
Pr 24:4 through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
請看 Walter L. Bradley (Texas A&M University 生物學教授) 的一段話:
In Darwin’s days, people thought a one-cell organism was rather simple and life could be a product of unguided chemical reaction.
A living system must do at least three things: process energy, store information. And replicate. Human beings do these three functions, although bacteria do them much more quickly and efficiently. One person very creatively---but quite accurately---described a single cell organism as a high-tech factory, complete with
· artificial languages and decoding systems;
· central memory banks that store and retrieve impressive amounts of information; Each cell in the human body contains more information than in all thirty volumes of the Encyclopaedia Britannica;
· precision control system that regulate the automatic assembly of components;
· proof-reading and quality control mechanisms that safeguard against errors;
· assembly system that use the principle of prefabrication and modular construction; and
· a complete replication system that allows the organism to duplicate itself at bewildering speeds.

From here, Apostle Paul indicated to us a misunderstanding of Gospel that was prevailed in the church of Galatia. He emphasized that it is Christ alone who helps us justified before God. The old legalism practice such as circumcision is absolutely not necessary. For those who still follows old legalism practice after being justified in Christ is setting their minds to please people instead of pleasing God (Galatians 1:10). I know sometimes old habit never dies. Yet, it is grace alone that can lead us to stand before God without fear.

Gal 2:11 When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong.
Gal 2:12 Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.
Gal 2:13 The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.
Gal 2:14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?
In Chuck Swindols’ book “The Grace Awakening”, there is a chapter entitled “Graciously Disagreeing and Press On” (pp.159-178). The opening paragraph reads:
“One of the marks of maturity is the ability to disagree without becoming disagreeable. It takes grace. In fact, handling disagreements with tact is one of the crowing achievements of grace.” (p.159)
And then, after many discussions, the author continues:
“In every disagreement there are the same two ingredients: (a) an issue, and (b) various viewpoints. The issue is usually objective and involves principles. The viewpoints are subjective and involve personalities……Every time I have remembered those two basic ingredients in the midst of a disagreement, I have been able to keep calm and think clearly” (p.163, p.168).
Sharing: Pray that God may grant us wisdom to separate the issue from the viewpoints, and to distinguish passing judgment from speaking-the-truth-in-love, and to discern whether the issue at hand worth breaking Christian relationship. I urge my brothers and sisters to read this book; the author uses Paul vs. Barnabas as a case study. Same argument applies to Paul vs. Peter described in the underlying passage.
Another paragraph which should hit home well with the HoCL folks:
"Don’t minimize the conflict. It’s painful beyond description. All is not lost, however. I remind you, the upside of it is that this is how new churches or seminaries are sometimes started. This is sometimes how campus ministries are expanded. Disagreements prompt fresh starts, new works, and broader visions. The event that caused it to happen isn't good. It is more like a rock hitting a placid lake, creating a sudden wake where there are hurt feelings, at least initially. But the ripples continue on until people are greathearted enough to forget the pain and stop licking their wounds and proceed into new directions (p.172)….we need to be people who can disagree in grace and then press on, even if the disagreement leads to a separation (p.174)."

Paul truly exemplifies what a servant-leader should be. Dear God, please help us and help those who love you to stay close to Christ and to His Word daily, so we can all shout with joy everyday to testify that God's promises to rescue Israel, and to restore His people are actually happening to us for now and forever through Jesus Christ.
Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth! For the LORD has spoken: “I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me.
The ox knows its master, the donkey its owner’s manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.”
Sharing:
These two verses describe a sin of rebellion that God wanted the Prophet Isaiah to tell Israelites, His chosen people. Firstly Isaiah asked “heavens and earth” to be his witnesses to listen to God’s indictment against the Israelites. Then God used “ox and donkey” to depict Israelites’ rebellion. As we know ox and donkey are loyal and submissive (sometimes are ignorant too) in general, to picture the Israelites is inferior to them is very ironic. This serves a good reminder to me that I need to examine myself constantly: Is God my true master or something else.

2 Corinthians 8:21
For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man.
Sharing: When Paul said that he and his coworkers took pain to do what is right, it seemed to imply that doing what is right is not of human nature and not an easy-going thing. We might be more careful to do what is right in church but not at home, work or other places. Yet, Paul reminded us that we should be careful to be honorable before the Lord, but we also want everyone else to see that we are honorable. May our Lord help us that whatever we do, whether in word or deed, in church or outside of church, we can do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.

- 假使我有千鎊英金, 中國可以全數支取;

2 Corinthians 8
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

Ecclesiastes7:5 It is better to heed the rebuke of a wise person than to listen to the song of fools. Ecclesiastes9:17 The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools. proverbs22:17 Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach. SharingIt is a blessing to be rebuked by the wise especially in public for their words are usually hidden. The words of the wise can not be heard in noisy parties. Their words are often not pleasant and popular at the first. The words usually carry a tone of reproach. However, there are too few people in the world who are willing to rebuke us for the sake of our spiritual well-being. May we search for the wise, get close to them and turn our ear to their sayings.

Ecclesiastes 7: 11 Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing
and benefits those who see the sun.
12 Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: that wisdom preserves the life of its possessor. 13 Consider what God has done: Who can straighten what he has made crooked?
14 When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider:
God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future.

Ecclesiastes 5: 18-20.
18Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot. 19Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God. 20For he will not much remember the days of his life because God keeps him occupied with joy in his heart. (ESV)

This verse let us realized these facts
1. Wealth and possesions are given by God.
2. The power to enjoy them is given by God.
3. The abilitiy to accept one lot and rejoice in his toil are also given by God.
So what can one do ?
Let us stand in awe of Him and fear Him
