Leviticus 22
19 you must present a male without defect from the cattle, sheep or goats in order that it may be accepted on your behalf.
20 Do not bring anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf.
Sharing: To present an offering to God is an act of worship. A presented offering with or without defect indicates the mind of the worshiper. What a reminder to me that I should not be careless in worshiping Him.

Mk 8:37 Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

Mark7:32-35
32 There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could
hardly talk, and they begged Jesus to place his hand on him.
33 After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers
into the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue.
34 He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him,
“Ephphatha!” (which means “Be opened!”).
35 At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he
began to speak plainly.
Sharing: Children learn how to speak from listening. Thank God for
opening our spiritual ears. May we listen to God's words so that
we can share his words with others and pray according to his will.

Lev 16:6 "Aaron is to offer the bull for his own sin offering to make atonement for himself and his household.
Lev 16:7 Then he is to take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
Lev 16:8 He is to cast lots for the two goats--one lot for the LORD and the other for the scapegoat
Lev 16:9 Aaron shall bring the goat whose lot falls to the LORD and sacrifice it for a sin offering.
Lev 16:10 But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the LORD to be used for making atonement by sending it into the desert as a scapegoat.
Sharing: Leviticus 16 sets forth the procedure to be followed on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur, usually late in September). There were to be two goats set aside for this ceremony:
The goat of the sin offering on the altar represented the substitution of Christ’s blameless life for the guilt life of the condemned sinner
The scapegoat (阿撒瀉勒 Azazel, “a goat of departure”) which was chosen by lot to be a live sacrifice represented the removal of sin from the presence of God. As the Father laid the sins of believers on the Son on the cross so that they might be removed far away---as Christ was crucified outside Jerusalem.
When we come to Jesus in faith, He forgives our sins. It is important to note that His forgiveness was so thorough as if He had totally forgotten our sins. The Psalmist, having experienced God’s complete forgiveness, declared, “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:12). As believers, we can rest assured in peace knowing that God has in effect forgotten our sins

34 He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means “Be opened!”).

Psalm 41: 3 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.
Sharing: We see Jesus healing hand on the sickness and getting out the demon. We look like physically healthy. We can see, hear, speak and yet we still sin against GOD. Pray that God creates in me a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit with in me.

50 because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 51 Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed, 52 for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened
Sharing: Quite often I heard people said "give me a miracle and then I will believe". However in these verses, Jesus' followers saw the miracle, but they were frightened because their hearts were hardened and they lacked of faith. We are just the same as they were. Let's pray for more faith in God, not more miracles from God.

Leviticus 10
7 Do not leave the entrance to the tent of meeting or you will die, because the LORD’s anointing oil is on you.” So they did as Moses said.
Sharing: The LORD’s anointing oil is a symbol of sanctification. It distinguishes between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean. This is a sober reminder to me, especially after seen the demonstration by the LORD in verses 10:1-2.

Psalm 37 30:40
30 The godly offer good counsel;
they teach right from wrong.
31 They have made God’s law their own,
so they will never slip from his path.
32 The wicked wait in ambush for the godly,
looking for an excuse to kill them.
33 But the Lord will not let the wicked succeed
or let the godly be condemned when they are put on trial.
34 Put your hope in the Lord.
Travel steadily along his path.
He will honor you by giving you the land.
You will see the wicked destroyed.
35 I have seen wicked and ruthless people
flourishing like a tree in its native soil.
36 But when I looked again, they were gone!
Though I searched for them, I could not find them!
37 Look at those who are honest and good,
for a wonderful future awaits those who love peace.
38 But the rebellious will be destroyed;
they have no future.
39 The Lord rescues the godly;
he is their fortress in times of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them,
rescuing them from the wicked.
He saves them,
and they find shelter in him.
Sharing: Those that are wicked and rebellious to God may win over us in our lifetime, but they will be gone in eternal life. In contrast, God will rescues the godly and be our shelter now and forever. What an assurance this is so we can focus on what's right, but I ask myself whether we are godly in the mist of all our weaknesses. In His Word above, yes we can if we have made progress to make God's law our own, and also if we have offered good counsel to those needed around us. PTL.

Sharing: When the fire on the alter was always kept burning, God allowed the Israelites to come before Him for the worship, fellowship and atonement all the time. As the priests who were the one to take care of the burnt offerings, God commanded them to dress and process the offerings in the specific ways to remind them that He is holy. Today, God still allows us to come before Him at all times. But as we serve Him, we should remember not to serve carelessly and mindlessly because He is holy.

Matthew 24: 39-42
Mt 24:39 and they knew nothing about (不知不覺) what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
Mt 24:40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.
Mt 24:41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
Mt 24:42 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know (不知道) on what day your Lord will come
Sharing: In these four verses, we are twice told of the coming of the Lord Jesus. Therefore, we should not be caught off guard but keep watch with pious anticipation.

Matthew 24
42 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.
44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Sharing: I was sleepily reading through today's installment of Bible online, when I hit the verses above and became fully awake. Then I understand what The Lord wanted. Be faithful, from beginning to end, not just when the event hits.

Proverbs: 7: 21-23
21:With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk
22: All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose
23:till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life
Sharing: A middle-aged man is especially vulnerable to sensual temptation: He may have reached the top of his career; he has gained some matured life experiences; he has become an expert in certain field in the workplace. A younger women colleague may tend to come to him for professional advices. What was set out to be a business discussion may gradually turn into deeper relationship. The Bible has sternly cautioned man to shun temptation with all-out effort. It was staggering to know that even a man who loves his wife and his children still cannot be exempted from this kind of temptations. Satan is happy to see Christians, especially Christian-leaders, to succumb to temptations of this kind. Let us be sure that Bible is not against pleasure. Bible is all for pleasure. But there are two kinds of pleasure: the legitimate one and the illegitimate one. Both have to pay. The difference is: For the legitimate pleasure, you pay now (put effort to build up your marriage) and play later (enjoy a happy family). For the illegitimate pleasure, you play now (a moment of happiness) but pay handsomely later. The Bible says, the adulterer will pay like “arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare; little knowing it will cost him his life.” Let us rely not upon our human volition because man knows not his weakness, but upon the power of the Holy Spirit.

Exodus 21:22-23:13
12 "Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest and the slave born in your household, and the alien as well, may be refreshed.
13 "Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.

Matthew 23:23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
It is easy for Pharisees to give tenth but what is most important in Christ is Christian’s character: justice, mercy and faithfulness.

Exodus 17
11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.
12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.
Psalms 27
13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Sharing: From Moses’ example, we can see how important the praying hands are. So are the praying partners – just like Moses needs Aaron and Hur to help him in praying, during the battle. Finally, let’s wait for our LORD (Psalm 27:14) with confidence -- He is our Banner (耶 和 華 是 我 旌 旗), ultimately.

Matthew 21:28-31
28 “What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to
the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’
29 “‘I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.
30 “Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He
answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go.
31 “Which of the two did what his father wanted?” “The first,” they answered.
